New Dawn Arts Club

“Every child is an artist. The problem is to remain an artist once you grow up”- Picasso

Arts in education is an expanding field of research and practice informed by investigations. Arts integrated learning is a way to teach artistic skills in conjunction with academic material. This approach to education values the process and experimental learning as much as creation of art object or performance oriented learning.

Arts are supposed to bring joy and a sense of calmness. It is used to destroy the monotony of a regular school day. Art should be seen as means of therapy, never something made to cause unrelenting stress and difficulty. If a student becomes less tense and wired up from stress in their learning environments, then they will raise up their grades in other classes, such as math, English or Science. To give off a relaxed vibe, putting art on the wall tends to provide a calming environment that produces a sense of peace and serenity.

The New Dawn Arts club successfully completed seven years of fruitful development.

Mr. David Abraham Albert, Professor, Department of English, Madras Christian College graced the Annual Meeting as Chief Guest and gave an impressive talk to students. It really induced greater enthusiasm for deeper participation. R. Jercy Sylvia of Std. XI D and Evangeline Roopa of Std. IX A were selected as its President and Secretary respectively for the year 2016-17. Our club has conducted various competitions like drawing, wealth out of waste, glass painting, T. Shirt designing, paper quelling, essay writing etc. We are thankful to our principal Rev. Fr. Johny Koyikkara CM for guiding and mentoring our New Dawn Arts Club.
